FOCUSING ON VARIETY

Portraits, process photos and detail shots are all great ways to capture the feeling of a day-in-the-life story. Taking photos of someone in their space, with their hands at work, and of the objects that surround them, gives the variety of images needed for a better sense of the personality and atmosphere of the subject.

PORTRAITS AND ENVIRONMENT

Taking photos of people in their environment is always such a fun opportunity to explore the dynamics of the space and how to show what someone does within it. Seeing how they interact with the space and the objects around them helps to ground the moment and gives a sense of scale and meaning in a way that eludes a standard headshot.

It helps to define the feeling of a place so that people get a better sense of how you want to be portrayed. For this downtown cafe that meant taking photos of gentle moments of calm and relaxation.
