From concept to

Final delivery

1. The Consultation call

Starting with a 20-minute consultation, we’ll discuss where you’re currently at with the photos you have so we can figure out where there can be improvements to help tell your story and showcase what you do and how you do it for the work that you make.

2. The Creative Direction

We’ll plan an hour-long creative call to define the lighting set-up, discuss how to capture the atmosphere of your work environment, and how we’ll incorporate the details of your workspace and the tools you use to showcase the work you do and what makes it uniquely yours.

3. The Photo Session

We start the session together by documenting the process you use and focus on the moments you are engaged in your work before we move into highlighting the details of your tools and space. After that, we’ll talk more about the passion you have for what you do as I capture portraits that show the candid authenticity of your personality.

4. The Final Polish

I’ll use the technical precision of my background as a commercial retoucher where it’s needed to ensure that every photo is high-quality while keeping the authenticity of the documented moment to show the beauty of your personality and the meaningful work that you create.

FAQ

I’m not an extrovert. What if I feel awkward in front of the camera?

My aim is to make every session as approachable as I can for each person. If there are any insecurities that you have about being photographed, we’ll talk about them and fit the session to your level of comfort. The ultimate goal is to capture what a day in your creative life looks like, so there’s no need to “pose” for the camera in the traditional way you might be thinking of. I’m positive that we’ll get photos that you’ll love!

What kind of retouching do you do to the photos?

All of the photos from our session together will be color-graded, exposure-balanced and ready for you to use. For your 10 favorite photos, I’ll use the technical precision of my background as a commercial retoucher where it’s needed most to minimize or remove distractions while keeping the authenticity of the documented moment. This helps whoever sees the photo connect more with the beauty of your personality and the meaningful work that you create.

My workspace is messy / small. Is that okay?

A messy workspace is full of character! There’s a lot of charm and beauty in the cluttered look that imbues a sense of “this is where the magic happens”. We can chat about the best way to prepare your space so that it feels presentable while also staying authentic to your process. If your space won’t work for some reason that we can’t finagle, I can recommend some rental studios in the area that we can shoot in instead.

Why is the session 4 hours?

It really goes by faster than you might think! 4 hours gives us enough time to avoid rushing and settle into a comfortable groove to get the natural shots we’re looking for. We’ll have enough time to capture photos of the work you do, the details and atmosphere of the space you create in, and to photograph candid moments for your portraits.

How can I use these images? (Licensing)

The final photos I deliver to you come with an “Exclusive Worldwide License” meaning that you can use the images indefinitely for all your “Owned Media" – think: website, social media, press kit material, etc. – and you’ll also get a 2-year license for paid digital advertising.

For the sake of symmetry

One day there could be a 6th FAQ, but for now there are only 5. And having only 5 left an empty space that was longing to be not-empty. This one is for you, Mr. Symmetry.
